Job description :

Our client is a private company based in Montreal that have manufactured, distributed and commercialized a trademark that they own for over 70 years. They are a leader in North America.

The position to be filled is Director of Finance, responsible for overseeing a team of 5.

Main responsibilities

Financial

  • Supervise accounts, records, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Manage monthly close, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor operational results and budget deviations.

Budget and Forecasting

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Use tools to make the process efficient and detailed.
  • Ensure alignment of quarterly projections with the company's strategy.

Credit and Collections

  • Develop and maintain credit policies to improve the company's cash flow.
  • Assess customer account risks and maintain appropriate credit ratings.

Accounts Payable

  • Direct and support cash disbursement, respecting supplier terms while managing cash flows and ensuring the department is efficient and accurate in processing various invoices and expenses.
  • Improve controls over invoice and payment processing (authorization, variance analysis).

Order Entry

  • Direct and support the order entry department in maintaining adequate customer and business support while ensuring the integrity of the processing cycle from shipment to invoicing.
  • Ensure appropriate controls over the billing cycle.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA designation
  • Over 8 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, and controls
  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • Previous experience in a food/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment or other consumer products is desired
  • Ability to identify, create, and implement process improvements and enhancements
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize the department’s work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to build relationships and embrace change
  • Strong technical, analytical, and systemic skills (Knowledge of ERP processes, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP-Sage X3 is a plus, any analytical tools such as Power BI or other BI tools)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in both official languages
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
