Job description :

Our client is looking for a Director of Finance, Canada to lead all financials and P&L of the division including internal and external financial reporting, stewardship of the company's assets, and ownership of cash management. The role is both current and forward-looking and incorporates strategy and business partnerships.

As an integral part of the LT, the incumbent will be an active contributor to the leadership team by working collaboratively across all departments and functions in Canada as well as with international colleagues in finance team. The Director of Finance will be a recognized partner who will foster profitability, analytic decision-making with a passion for success.

The incumbent will also continue to build and develop a strong and sustainable Canadian finance team in Montreal and Toronto around the Company core values. The Director of Finance will be a proactive, entrepreneurial, and energetic individual with strong leadership skills who thrives in a fast-paced and multi-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L responsibility of the Canada Business Unit, setting, monitoring financial targets.
  • Helping design and articulate the strategic plan of the Canadian Business Unit

Accounting and Administrative Management

  • Implement and apply the internal control measures necessary for the quality of financial information and cost control.
  • Supervise and verify the work performed by accounting personnel.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and report them to general management and the board of directors.
  • Supervise functions related to payroll processing, CSST and other related matters.
  • Supervise the preparation of the annual audit file.
  • Manage working capital and approve payments.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions, the auditor and any professional related to his/her function: tax specialist, lawyer, government departments, etc.

Financial Analysis and Support

  • Prepare and monitor budgets.
  • Perform financial ratio analysis.
  • Analyze the profitability of products sold, by category.
  • Perform financial analysis of any major company project: acquisitions, equipment purchases, fixed assets, etc.
  • Develop various scenarios related to the financing of special projects.
  • Be the financial manager of affiliated companies.
  • Ensure that subsidies available to the company are obtained.
  • Be a support to executives for everything related to the accounting or financial aspect of their work.
  • Any other mandate that may be assigned to him by management.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Undergraduate university degree in accounting CPA accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Finance in a similar or related field, ideally food and/or manufacturing.
  • Experience in managing people including controller, AP and AR.
  • Bilingualism - Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of common computer software, ideally with SAP or other ERP application.
