We are looking to fill the role of Chief Financial Officer in this very fast paced and innovative environment. Our clIent is a 50-employee business in the sustainable construction industry. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience from private equity or capital markets, demonstrating success in building robust investor relations.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be an integral part of the management team, as well as a key contributor to the corporate planning process. The CFO oversees a team of individuals, led by a controller, responsible for financial administration, internal and external financial reports, budgets and controls and internal and external audits.

The CFO’s mandate is to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial processes, results and reports as well as ensure all investor relations and raising capital for the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the fundraising efforts for Series B capital, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of financial markets and strategies.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with current and potential investors, fostering trust and confidence in the company’s financial performance and growth prospects.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Drive financial decision-making by providing strategic insights and analysis to support key business initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial standards.
  • Manage a finance team, providing leadership, guidance, and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Implement and optimize financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Proven experience in successfully raising capital within a startup environment.
  • Background in private equity or capital markets, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial markets and investor relations.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to navigate complex financial landscapes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting in Canada and internationally.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to overall business planning and decision-making.
  • Previous experience managing financial operations in a high-growth startup environment is highly desirable.
